"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me,
naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me."
-- Matthew 25: 35-40
The St. Hyacinth conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) offers person-to-person service to those individuals and families that are in need in the Deer Park area by providing finanical help for rent, utilities, medicine and food.
SVDP volunteers also work in cooperation with other area churches and agencies when the assistance needed is more than SVDP is able to provide.
Parishioners join in this ministry by donating money in the designated Sunday collections and through direct, individual donations to the parish SVDP. Food items for the emergency pantry may be donated at any time. By participating in the annual Angel Tree project, parishioners provide gifts and food baskets to needy families at Christmas.
St. Vincent de Paul meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in Room B.
Office hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 pm to assist clients.
SVDP maintains a voicemail box where person needing assistance may call 281-479-4298, ext. 25. The voicemail box is continually monitored throughout the day by SVDP volunteers.
Parishioners interested in becoming a member of the Society are invited to any monthly meeting or may leave a message via voicemail.
